I’m the Worst Blogger Ever

February 12, 2009

No I’m not dead. I realize I haven’t blogged in over 2 months and I’m sorry. I kind of go into hibernation when winter hits. It’s dark when I leave for work, it’s dark when I get home from work and it all makes me not even think about taking pictures. No worries though because I’m back, the days are getting longer and occasionally I see sunlight! Plus something tells me I’ll have a lot to blog about very soon…

I recently got a new lens, it’s a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. I’m sure I’ll be getting a lot of use out of it. I wanted something that would take better indoor pictures rather than the crappy kit lens I have been using.

I have a Dream

October 1, 2008

OK so this isn’t going to be as moving as Martin Luther’s speech but my goal for October is to blog everyday this month. I’m digging into the good ‘ole picture archives for this one and I might be doing that a lot this month.

I’m not usually up early enough to catch the sunrise. This pic was taken quite a while back and I came across it as I was organizing my pictures.

These flowers smelled fantastic. It was like walking into a perfume factory.

Orange Flower

I really like taking pictures of nature but at Powell Gardens I found myself getting bored very quickly. Don’t get me wrong, Powell Gardens is incredibly gorgeous and a great backdrop. However, there’s only so many ways you can photograph a flower. Nature’s a great subject to start on but I haven’t found it challenging enough to increase my skills lately. The only shot I found difficult was with the waterfalls. I wanted a slower shutter speed to convey the rushing water and I don’t have a tripod yet so most of them turned out blurry. I’m not saying that every shot I was took turned out wonderful but with plants and flowers you’ve got all the time in the world to get just the perfect picture. It’s not like a flower is going to jump up and down and I’ve got to capture it midair.

Hopefully I’ll be able to focus on other more challenging subjects for awhile. I’m going to watch my girlfriend Julie run a triathlon this weekend so I’ll have some shots of that on here soon. Good luck Julie. I’m sure you’ll do great!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a couple of days. Last weekend I took sooo many pictures and I’m trying to get them all edited.

Last weekend I went out to Powell Gardens. I hadn’t been out here except for a wedding so this was the first time I was able to mill around and photograph the gorgeous scenery out here. The place is absolutely gorgeous and I had a hard time picking out pictures because they all turned out so good.
