Fall is Definitely Here
November 6, 2008Remembering…
October 3, 2008I waited a long time before I was comfortable posting these pictures. I actually took these last March. I realize some might find it disrespectful. For those that do find this post in bad taste, I apologize. However, I feel the most disrespectful thing we can do is act as though they never existed. You can’t pick and choose your history.
I drove past a very old cemetery and I think the most disheartening thing I saw wasn’t the lack of flowers – it was all the broken head stones. Some of these individuals have been gone since before my great grandparents era and now they aren’t only forgotten – they’re disrespected. You can determine so much about one’s family and friends by the items they leave at their gravestone.
My grandmother passed away a little over a year ago. She is buried in Chicago so I haven’t been able to visit her grave site.

I have a Dream
October 1, 2008OK so this isn’t going to be as moving as Martin Luther’s speech but my goal for October is to blog everyday this month. I’m digging into the good ‘ole picture archives for this one and I might be doing that a lot this month.

Race for the Cure
August 16, 2008Race for the Cure was last Saturday. I went out there with some of my girlfriends and braved the other 22,000 people that were there. We had so much fun and if you haven’t gone then you should next year. Plus it’s for a great cause.

Seeing this woman there really touched me because she’s actively fighting against cancer. Cancer impacts so many and breast cancer in particular can be so vicious.
.

A lot of the racers wore “In Memory of ” or “In Celebration of” signs and it listed their loved one who has fought cancer.

I know absolutely nothing about this man except than he was waiting intently for someone at the finish line holding the rose.

At the Lake
July 24, 2008OK I know, I know I’ve been really horrible with updating my blog lately. I don’t think I’ve taken any pictures in at least a week.

4th of July
July 8, 2008Ok sorry these are late but we had an awesome 4th of July. A lot of our friends came over and we had a good time. Please don’t ask me why my sister has the in her words ‘cool hair’. Ugghhh kids these days.

Who doesn’t love playing with snappers?

Alyssa had never seen snappers before, it took her a few minutes to figure them out. She loved all the confetti from some of the fireworks.

Lucy ran away from the first smoke bomb she saw.

Saturday on the Plaza
July 1, 2008I spent some time on the Plaza on Saturday. You can always count on having something to shoot there with all the wonderful architecture.

Weekend at the Lake #2
June 4, 2008OK since I had so many more pictures I had to post a few more. As you can tell from the shots we had an absolute blast!

Don’t worry everyone if you want to see all of them then they’re here and yes they’re password protected – you’ll just have to play the guessing game on that one.
Weekend at the Lake
June 4, 2008Last weekend I went down to Lake of the Ozarks with some girlfriends. We had an absolute blast shopping, swimming and chilling. We ate at this place called Backwater Jack’s, if you ever stop by there be sure to get their drink called “Pain in the Ass” you can add a floater of 151 to it. Let’s just say those things are strong!!

Don’t worry that’s not all of them. I have a ton more pictures I’ll be adding tonight.
Mothers Day
May 16, 2008What do you get when you combine gorgeous day, food and a flame thrower? Oh that would be my family’s typical Mother’s Day (and yes I’m serious about the flame thrower). Let’s just say my dad is a little out there, weird, eccentric. Who doesn’t love flame throwers? As established previously, I am a pyromaniac so having one makes total sense. Everyone NEEDS a flamethrower. Why use boring matches and lighter fluid when you can see flames the size of small children with an apparatus that looks like it belongs in Halo? Who cares if the bag of charcoal was designed to be lit? It’s way cooler to do it this way.
My sisters, don’t they look stunning?

Umm Jessica thought I was going a little overboard on the pictures by this point

Yes here’s the flame thrower I promised…..
