I’m so proud to announce the new kentiga.com and this blog has received a face lift as well! If you keep up on my blog through a blog reader check out all the changes! Let me know what you think! I still have a lot of things I want to tweak but I’m SUPER excited with how it turned out. Also you may notice I’m offering a $50 gift certificate for any referral, so let your friends know!
Since I can’t post without a picture, here’s a couple from this morning. Can I tell you how much I LOVE this hoodie? It’s Marie from Aristocrats! Who would have thought a hoodie could be so darn adorable?

I’m not the only one who’s excited about the new site!

My grandma is your stereotypical grandmother. She cooked, sewed, and quilted. She LOVED to sew and was always sewing something. Usually she had several different projects going at once. One Christmas she made all thirteen grandchildren quillows. I have no idea how long she spent sewing those things but I love mine.

Isn’t it amazing how books can instantly help you relive how you felt when you read them? I loved, loved, LOVED reading The New Junior Classics set when I was on the farm. My grandparents had a huge library of books. When you were in the middle of nowhere Kansas there wasn’t much to do as a child except read, read, read and although there were a ton of books there weren’t a lot that appealed to a child except for these. I remember pouring over every page and soaking in these stories. I won this set in the auction and I was so glad to get them. I can’t wait to start reading these to my daughter soon.

I loved the Little Golden Books, they were some of my favorite stories growing up.

A couple weeks ago I headed down to Wichita for an auction. This was not just any auction – I mean who drives 3 hours just to buy someone else’s stuff? Not me!
My grandfather passed away earlier this year and my grandmother was getting rid of a lifetime’s accumulation of fabric, tools, books and gadgets. My grandparents have always been the type to keep EVERYTHING. After all you never know when you might that insert random object here when you’re on the farm. Grandma’s house always meant candy, games of connect four, having more than one kind of cereal to choose between (hey it was a big thing for me as a kid!), and smelling grandma’s dippity do hair gel. This was the first time I had been to the farm in years and more than likely the last time. I kept thinking how my own child would never know all the rooms we would romp around in or ‘helping’ grandpa with the latest chick that had hatched that summer.

My grandmother collected salt and pepper shakers for as long as I could remember. She had a ton of them.

I told you she had a ton of them

Everyone knows the brainwashing influencing needs to start early!

Come on say it with me, Rock….

Chalk…

Jayhawk…

Ok she may not have it down yet but we’re working on it!

Baby girl sleeps awesome at night – during the day though – not so much. Pretty much the only place we can guarantee she’ll nap is in her car seat. I may or may not have been known to leave her in her car seat after we get home just so she’ll sleep longer. Besides she’s just so peaceful when she’s sleeping!

You wouldn’t know it from these pictures but she really doesn’t like bath time at all. Usually she’s fussing the entire time. You’d see pictures of that but it’s probably not safe to leave a screaming baby in a tub full of water just to snap a shot.

Well sometimes it’s warmer, fortunately we found a great day to take these shots about a week and a half ago.

This is by FAR my favorite shot I’ve captured of her to date. She has so many expressions and we call this one her “Popeye Face” She likes to open one eye first to see if it’s worth all the extra effort of opening the second eye. I wanted to use this shot on her announcements but alas I lost that battle.

This instead is the happy and absolutely gorgeous (I mean ofcourse she’s gorgeous she is related to me!!!) but a tad boring shot that won for the announcements. I mean don’t get me wrong I love this picture too but it doesn’t convey her true personality like the other picture does!

Sometimes she’s not so happy…..

But fortunately that never lasts for long.

More of my favorite subject!
